Council on Competitiveness Lauds Obama on Business Regulations

California business owners and prospective business owners were no doubt interested in President Obama’s call to arms against the status quo of business regulations – as was the Council on Competitiveness. President & CEO of the Council on Competitiveness, Deborah L. Wince-Smith, had this to say about President Obama’s signing of an order that instructs federal agencies to look over select regulations that are straining American businesses:

“By signing the Executive Order, President Obama took an important step today toward removing the barriers that prevent growth and job creation in America. The U.S. economy cannot experience a robust and widespread recovery without a regulatory environment that attracts investment and supports innovation and entrepreneurship.

“Eliminating burdensome regulations is critical for American businesses to both compete for today’s jobs and investments, and to create and harvest the next generation of technologies and industries in the U.S. The Council on Competitiveness is committed to working with the Administration to craft regulatory policies that will ensure American growth and prosperity.”

Naturally, the council likes the action because, per Obama’s opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal, would “remove outdated regulations that stifle job creation and make our economy less competitive.” The Council on Competitiveness includes Bank of America chairman Charles O. Holliday, Jr.
