In a move to help small businesses rehire and help jump start the economy, JPMorgan Chase announced that for small businesses that qualify, the bank will knock down the interest rate on its banking credit line.

The new program is open to business owners with the following qualifications. They must be a new customer who takes on a new Chase business credit line of up to $250,000. Or, they an be an existing customer who increases their line of credit by at least $10,000. For each new person the firm hires, JP Morgan Chase will knock half a percentage point off the interest rate for the credit line and the discount will stay in place for the life of the loan.

Small businesses that are also Chase checking customers get an additional bonus on top of the hiring discounts: they will receive a 0.5 percentage point discount off their credit line. In theory, a small business could knock its credit-line interest rates down by 2 percentage points. This is good for the business, good for the bank, good for new employees, good for the nation!
