CD Rates Fall Further

It’s easy to find the best cd rates in the nation, but hard to find a good cd rate. Or a good money market or savings account interest rate. They’re just not there, whether it’s from a California bank rate or some other state.

The average yield on 6-month jumbo CDs remained unchanged at 0.42%, from same as the previous week, according to Bankrate.com. The yield on five-year jumbos fell to 1.98% APY which is lower than last week. There’s really no money for savers!

The average yields on smaller CDs were mostly lower this past week as well. The average six-month CD yield paid 0.39% APY.

The average two-year CD rate yield fell to 1.06% while the average five-year yield fell to 1.95%, just .03% lower than the week earlier.

Savers nationwide feel exasperated at the low rates, but with stocks in a declining mode, it is better to gain a little than lose a lot.
