California’s Pan American Bank Hosts Latino Fundraiser
Established in 1964, Pan American Bank is California’s oldest Latino-owned bank. Headquartered in East Los Angeles, the bank serves the needs of the Latino communities in both Los Angeles and Santa Ana.
The bank just announced that it will host a fundraiser to benefit Latino Literacy Now, a nonprofit organization supported by actor Edward James Olmos to promote Latino literacy.
Latino Literacy Now promotes reading activities and produces the Latino Book & Family Festival, a fun weekend event that promotes literacy, culture and education for the whole family. The festival is annually held in key Latino markets across the country.
The evening will feature a dance performance by Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company, Latino readings by Latino Book & Family Festival 2010 authors, an art gallery hosted by the Fremont Gallery, a silent auction, guest door prizes, tequila tasting and a networking opportunity.
Latino authors in attendance will include Victor Cass (Fiction), David Bueno-Hill (Fiction/Poet), Thelma Reyna (Fiction), Amada Irma Perez (Children’s Books),Rolando Ortiz (Poet), Montserrat Fontes (Fiction), Melinda Palacio (Poet/Fiction), Rene Colato LaÃnez (Children’s Books), and Reyna Grande (Fiction). Artists featured will include Sergio Sanchez, Kikki Eder, Damian Chavez, and Ariel Vargazal.
